Wreckage of a yacht washed up across a long stretch of West Cornwall has been positively identified as belonging to a millionaire lone yachtswoman.
Ona Mary Unwin has not been seen since setting sail, against strenuous advice, from Mousehole, near Newlyn, on Saturday night, bound for her home in Bideford, North Devon.
Bits of wreckage recovered from beaches have now been confirmed as coming from her newly-bought boat, Seagair.
A spokesman for Falmouth Coastguard said a lot of small items had been recovered from a very large area.
"One piece of the wreckage had an identification number from which we were able to confirm the name of the yacht.
"The spread of the wreckage was very large, from just south of Land's End to Godrevy and Hayle."
Emergency services called off the search operation on Tuesday and it is believed there is no chance for Mrs Unwin, known as Mary, to have survived.
The yachtswoman bought Seagair in Falmouth on Thursday and set off, despite warnings about the weather and concerns about her inexperience.
