THREE of west Penwith's award-winning tourist attractions have teamed up with a First open-top bus service to offer the public a memorable day out.
Porthcurno Telegraph Museum, Geevor Tin Mine and Penlee House in Penzance have formed a new relationship in association with travel operator First Devon and Cornwall that gives visitors discounted entry to the attractions and a special stopping service.
The 300 Cornwall Explorer route allows tourists to buy an unlimited travel day ticket that also secures 10 per cent off at the destinations.
The service continues throughout the day, which allows each attraction to be visited in one outing – with the added opportunity to admire some of west Cornwall's most beautiful scenery along the way.
The group hopes to raise awareness of Penwith's attractions through the deal, and fashioned the idea following a haul of tourism awards last year.
Rachel Webster, communications officer at the telegraph museum, said: "At the end of last year Porthcurno Telegraph Museum, Geevor Tin Mine and Penlee House Gallery and Museum won gold, silver and bronze at the Cornwall Tourism Awards.
"After this, we got together to discuss ways in which we could raise awareness that three of Cornwall's best museums are right here in Penwith.
"It's a fantastic route – often voted one of the best in the UK – taking in some of the most beautiful pastoral and coastal views anywhere in Cornwall."
Last week local business owners and prominent members of the west Cornwall community were invited to attend the tour, with a view to forging links between the museums and hotels, restaurants and cafés around the area.
Jo Cann, marketing manager for First Devon and Cornwall, said that the travel operator was keen to form a link with the attractions.
"When we were asked if we wanted to support this tour by providing a bus to showcase all that the area and Service 300 has to offer, we jumped at the chance.
"The Cornwall Explorer service is a fantastic way of getting out and about in Penwith."
The journey covers a number of towns and villages including Penzance, Lamorna, Porthcurno, Land's End, St Just, St Ives and Marazion.
Visitors can claim 10 per cent discount at the three museums with a valid ticket and hop on and off at a number of other spots along the way.
