A KAYAKER was forced to call for emergency assistance after suffering suspected sunstroke and dehydration off Menabilly beach, near Fowey, this afternoon.
Two lifeboat crews were despatched while a coastguard cliff rescue team helped direct them to the stricken man from the cliff top at around 3.30pm.
He had not eaten since breakfast and was given water by the RNLI team, before being taken home by the coastguards.
His kayak was transported back to Fowey to be collected later.
Lifeboat helmsman Christian Philp said: "He did the right thing – if you are in trouble ring for help as soon as you can, minimise the danger to yourself. It does help if you are prepared for your trip – always take water and food and let someone know where you are going and for how long."
