RNLI lifeguards rescued a body boarder who was in danger of being washed onto rocks in Porthtowan.
RNLI lifeguard Adam Bunt was patrolling the red and yellow flagged area yesterday when he spotted the body boarder being swept away in a strong current heading towards rocks and a nearby headland.
With a two metre swell running and south easterly winds up to force 6, he called for fellow RNLI lifeguard Kian Harris and they launched the inshore rescue boat.
The two drove straight to the casualty and snatched him out of the water moments before he was either washed on to the rocks or around the headland and out of sight.
Drustan Ward, RNLI Lifeguard Supervisor, said: "I would always urge body boarders to stay in a suitable depth of water where you can put your feet on the ground when not on the board.
"Also keep looking to the beach to see if you are drifting away from the designated area between the red and yellow flags. If you feel you are being pulled away by wind, tide or current try to return to the shore or raise your hand and signal for help."
