A St Agnes photographer wanting to launch her own mobile dark room is urging people to back her bid to raise £1,000 in under three weeks in exchange for rewards. Josie Purcell set up her community photographic company, ShutterPod, last year to create interactive vintage photographic opportunities for all. Now she has turned to Crowdfunding in the hope of raising enough money to kit out her darkroom on the move. Her appeal via the Crowdfunding website gives her until July 8 to raise £1,000, if she fails to reach the target none of the money pledged will be paid out. Crowdfunding gives communities and supporters the opportunity to invest in a business, a community project or educational venture in return for rewards. Mrs Purcell said: "Traditional photography techniques are growing in popularity and a mobile darkroom will help to make this tactile type of photography available to the curious, inquisitive, and give-it-a-goers out there. "ShutterPod also specialises in helping people who access health or social care services, children and young people or those classed as disadvantaged to grow in confidence, learn something new and above all, have fun through its quirky photo sessions." As one of the first businesses to take part in the new Crowdfund Cornwall scheme, she is offering rewards which range from £10 to £300 and include one-of-a-kind prints, photo-cushions, photo-art t-shirts and workshop opportunities. If successful, ShutterPod will be able to take its photo adventures to festivals, community events, organisation, business, charity and school events.
