A COASTGUARD rescue team was called out to help a stricken dog in the sea near Newlyn last night … and arrived just as he swam back to shore.
Billy, a black Labrador cross, decided to go for an evening dip at around 8.30pm when he found himself out of his depth.
His owner called for assistance from the Penzance coastguard team – but was left somewhat red-faced when her pet trotted back up the beach just as she began explaining what had happened.
A spokesman for Falmouth Coastguard said: "I think Billy came in for an equal number of kisses and tellings-off from his owner, who was very relieved he was ok."
