A DONATED Apple iPad will be used to distract children while undergoing treatment in St Austell Minor Injuries Unit (MIU).
This followed the fundraising efforts of a parent and staff members.
When Leanne McGall used her own iPad to distract her son Alfie, aged 4, during treatment after he fell on his toy castle and injured his ear, senior nurse Kay Summerwill saw what a positive impact it could make to patients.
So the MIU staff decided to hold a fundraiser to get one for the department.
Ms Summerwill said: "When I saw Leanne using her iPad to distract her son a few months ago I was really interested.
"I have been researching distraction techniques as my special interest is children and learning disabilities and I thought it would be great to have one in the department for future use."
