Academics in Cornwall are turning to the public to help them shape important research projects. Based in Truro, the University of Exeter's European Centre for Environment and Human Health is hoping to bring people together from across Cornwall, to inform their research and help make their findings relevant. The Centre is looking for people interested in health and environment to comment on proposed research, and help decide what projects should be undertaken. Participants will also help to ensure that the centre's research is open and accessible and help to share findings with the community.

Dr Ruth Garside, senior lecturer in evidence synthesis at the centre, said: "The experience that researchers have of health and the environment comes from a specialised point of view. Members of the public can often provide a different way of looking at things and we're hoping to involve a wider group of people in the centre's research, giving people who could benefit from its findings a greater say in shaping its design." An introductory event is being held at the Centre on July 8. For more information go to www.ecehh.org/event/public-engagement-workshop
