A HAYLE mother who was blinded by her boyfriend when he gouged out her eyes in a horrific attack has allegedly been the victim of another violent incident.
Tina Nash was brutally attacked in April 2011 by her then boyfriend Shane Jenkin, at their home.
Jenkin was given an indeterminate sentence with a minimum of six years in a secure mental health unit in May 2012.
But it has now emerged that Miss Nash is allegedly the victim of another assault, said to have taken place in Penzance on Sunday, June 16.
Roland Alli, 32, of Luxmore Close, Leigham, Plymouth, appeared at Truro Magistrates' Court last week charged with one count of assault against Miss Nash.
Mr Alli pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody until Tuesday when he was again remanded in custody at a preliminary hearing.
Miss Nash, a mum of two, vowed to rebuild her life after the court case last year when her former partner was sentenced after admitting grievous bodily harm. He had denied attempting to murder her.
She has since supported a campaign to help women find out if their partner has a violent past and has made a series of TV appearances speaking in support of Clare's Law – a pilot scheme in which men and women are warned by the authorities if their partner has a violent past.
Jenkin, 33, who had a long record of violence, imprisoned Miss Nash for 12 hours during the 2011 attack, which also left her jaw fractured and her nose broken.
At the time, the trial judge said the attack was one of "extreme violence with catastrophic consequences".
Miss Nash was in bed and tried to shield herself with a duvet, but Jenkin jumped on her and stuck his thumbs in her eyes.
She has written a book called Out Of The Darkness to help others in the same position realise what danger they could be in, and to highlight the help available.
Mr Alli appeared at Truro Magistrates' Court via a live video link from Exeter prison on Tuesday.
Mark Charnley, for the defence, made an application of bail which was refused by the chairman of the bench, David Snoswell. Mr Alli was remanded in custody until the next hearing on July 23.
