Cornish youngsters are being given the chance to learn to sail on board a Tall Ship to Ireland next month.
The Dutch vessel Astrid will be sailing to a festival in Kinsale, leaving Southampton on July 14 and returning two weeks later.
Anyone aged 15 to 25 can apply, no experience is necessary. They will join other cadets from across Europe and be introduced to all aspects of ocean-sailing.
Astrid's crew will teach them about navigation, sailing rules and manoeuvring. They will also hone teamwork skills while learning to be self-reliant and make new friends during the trip.
Cadets will board the ship in Southampton and disembark in Cherbourg with a low cost transfer available to either Portsmouth or Poole.
John Hick of Falmouth Tall Ships Association, said: "I firmly encourage any young people to look into this opportunity. Astrid has long enjoyed a good relationship with Falmouth and we very much hope to see her here again when the tall ships come here next year. This opportunity is one not to be missed."
Monique Touw, of At Sea Sail Training which runs the ship, said: "It will be a great voyage to Kinsale in Ireland, where there is fun nautical event planned called Gathering Ireland 2013"
A trip of this length would normally cost 1,295 Euros however, thanks to funding from the EU Youth in Action program, it will cost UK trainees around £380.
"Astrid and her crew will be welcomed in much the same way as in the tall ships host ports," aded Ms Touw. "Along the way we will make stopovers, depending on the wind and weather conditions. On board the ship, trainees will enjoy games and learn about each others' cultures as well as learn to sail on a beautiful tall ship."
