The managing partner of a South West law firm is preparing to plunge 10,000 feet over the Cornish coastline in aid of charity. Jeremy Harvey, Managing Partner for Coodes Solicitors is taking part in the Children's Hospice South West tandem skydive at the end of the month, where he will freefall some 5,000 feet before opening the parachute. The CHSW fundraising skydive takes place on Saturday, October 27. Jeremy and the other participants will jump from a plane with experienced instructors from Cornwall Parachute Club over Perranporth Airfield and fall around two miles at a speed of 120mph. Jeremy, who has been part of Coodes for almost 25 years, has already raised more than £400, but hopes to raise as much as he can from sponsorship via a justgiving.com page. He said: "As a firm, we set ourselves a challenge to raise as much money as we could for this incredibly worthwhile local charity.  "I was badgered into taking part in the skydive by our former new business development manager, Suzanne Skerry, and whilst I'm terrified at the prospect of jumping out of a plane, I know it will be a real experience. There's no backing out now!"

Children's Hospice South West, which through the Precious Lives Appeal opened its Little Harbour hospice for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, is Coodes' chosen charity for the year. Each of the firm's seven offices have been set the challenge of raising as much cash as they can. Bernadette Thoreau, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser for Children's Hospice South West, said:  "Well done to Jeremy for being so brave!  "Being chosen as Coodes  charity of the year means so much to us and the families that use our hospices.  "Every penny raised by Jeremy's skydive and Coodes yearlong fundraising activities will help us to make the most of short and precious lives at our special children's hospice Little Harbour."
