WORKMEN have stumbled upon a 50 kilo Second World War bomb while working in a field close to St Eval Kart Circuit near Newquay.
The unexploded device was discovered at around 12.30pm, police are en route and the area has reportedly been cordoned off.
It is understood that the workers are from maintenance company the Kier Group, formerly May Gurney.
A police spokesman said they immediately spotted the potential danger and placed their own cordon around the bomb.
Standard procedure will now be for photos of the device to be sent to bomb disposal experts who will travel to the scene and decide how to dispose of it.
He said: "They will either safely dispose of the bomb or take it away and drop it into the sea off-shore. That's what normally happens."
No further information is available at present. St Eval Kart Circuit is currently uncontactable.
