Truro City player-manager Lee Hodges is waiting for news on the fitness of in-demand striker Andy Watkins ahead of tonight's Blue Square Bet South test at Farnborough.
The Bath City transfer target scored the opener in last Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Sutton United but then hobbled off with a "hamstring twinge" said Hodges, who is already ruled out by his own hamstring injury.
Hodges' threadbare squad is set to be boosted by the return of fit-again target man Kieffer Moore, who missed the weekend reverse. The Truro boss admitted: "I'm going to have to wait and see who is fit and who is not and do my best from there with what little resources we have left.
"Either way it's another case of looking at maybe being down to 11 or 12 again, which is far from ideal no matter who you're playing, let alone facing a team like Farnborough away on a Tuesday night.
"On the plus side, I was all ready to rule out Andy but he has phoned to say he wants to be given as much time as possible and he will see how he is in the morning, and Kieffer has been in touch to say he thinks he will be OK, so that's another plus especially when – on Saturday night – I was thinking I may have to travel with ten players."
Marcus Martin (ankle) is another "wait and see" injury doubt, but striker Stewart Yetton has been ruled out on a long-term basis with a knee injury while Hodges confirmed that Dorchester Town have made an approach for City right-back Dan Green.
Both sides in action this evening at Cherrywood Road will be seeking to bounce back from defeats, as the hosts lost 3-2 at Hayes and Yeading United last Saturday. In a twist ahead of tonight's fixture, Truro were yesterday drawn to visit Farnborough in the FA Trophy third qualifying round on Saturday, November 10.
Tonight's game is City's third fixture since they avoided expulsion from the league thanks to financial aid from Truro-based businessmen Philip and Justin Masters plus Phil Perryman, who want to take over the club and bring it out of administration.
Truro skipper Jake Ash issued a statement on behalf of the playing staff yesterday to re-affirm their support for the trio. He said: "We have made it very clear to the administrators that we fully support their bid to take over the club.
"They have outlined to us their desire to make this club a positive part of the community. They have told us their commitment in trying to keep this squad together and their intent to inherit our contracts and fulfil them and also a desire to remunerate, to some degree, previously unpaid wages."
