Police have issued a warning about the possession of fireworks after a stash was seized from two boys aged 13 and 14.
The youngsters were stopped in Saltash on Friday with what were described as "German-made pyrotechnics".
Officers say with bonfire night approaching they want to underline the fact that it is illegal for under-18s to have fireworks. It is also illegal for shopkeepers to sell fireworks to anyone under 18.
In the run-up to November 5, Devon and Cornwall Police will be enforcing regulations about the use and possession of fireworks.
Anyone suspected of being in possession of illegal fireworks can be subject to a stop and search, and fixed penalty notices or fines can be issued.
Neighbourhood policing Inspector Paul Morgan said: "Bonfire night is no excuse for crime and antisocial behaviour.
"We want everyone to have an enjoyable fireworks night but remember that fireworks are dangerous and need to be handled properly, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
"Fireworks are explosives and burn at high temperatures, so they need careful handling and storage."
