Bodmin Town 1 Plymouth Parkway 0 Jonny Ludlam's spectacular 38th minute free kick goal was enough to give Bodmin victory over Carlsberg South West Peninsula League leaders Plymouth Parkway at Priory Park on Monday evening. Ludlam curled in a left foot shot from 25 yards which gave Parkway keeper Dan Law no chance. And the reigning champions defended with great determination to hold off Parkway's onslaught in the second half, ending the visitors' eight match winning streak. Bodmin boss Darren Gilbert described it as his side's best performance of the season against a Parkway team who remain top of the premier division and are still favourites to clinch the title. The result also completed Bodmin's league double over the Plymouth side, having beaten them 1-0 at Bolitho Park in November. Parkway started the match in swashbuckling mood, attacking with purpose and looking likely to score an early goal, with former Bodmin favourite Luke Rundle causing problems along the left with his pacy runs. But Bodmin created the first clear chance after 14 minutes when Seb Broomfield held the ball up well before laying it into the path of Sean Devine, who hit a left foot shot into the side netting from 20 yards. Parkway continued to pour forward and a Levi Landricombe shot in the 27th minute beat Kevin Miller but shaved the outside of the post before bouncing wide. Parkway made what appeared to be a tactical substitution on the half hour, withdrawing striker Sam Dicken and replacing him with midfield man Danny Lewis. But before they had time to adjust to a new formation, Parkway found themselves behind to Ludlam's free kick. It then took heroics from Bodmin keeper Miller a minute before half-time to keep out a close range Levi Landricombe effort with a breathtaking save, with the rebound crashing against the bar before being scrambled away. Parkway needed a goal quickly as the second half began but they were fortunate not to fall further behind in the 47th minute when a Ludlam free kick from the right picked out Tom Chambers unmarked on the far post. That usually means a goal for Bodmin – but this time Chambers could only get a glancing touch to the ball from six yards and the ball flew wide. The rest of the second half belonged to Parkway and they were desperately close to an equaliser after 49 minute when Levi Landricombe burst through the middle and looked certain to score. But Miller came to Bodmin's rescue with a superb block with his legs, and the ball cannoned off Jack Podmore and went out for a corner. From Levi Landricombe's resulting cross, Mike Landricombe rose as the far post to power a header past Miller, but also inches wide. Then Bodmin skipper Steve Simmonds made a magnificent tackle to deny man of the match Paul Heveran as he raced clear with only Miller to beat in the 58th minute. Bodmin suffered a blow in the 61st minute when striker Danny O'Hagan was forced off with a gashed forehead sustained in a challenge as he headed away a corner. Former Parkway striker Chris Wright replaced him and alongside the hard-working Broomfield, he started to get more possession for Bodmin as the game moved into the last ten minutes. And although they continued to attack, Parkway produced only one half chance in the late stages, with Heveran sending a right foot shot from 20 yards well wide when well placed.
