A MAN who blinded his girlfriend in a horrific attack at her home has lost his appeal against his sentence.
In May, Shane Jenkin was given an indefinite life sentence with a minimum term of six years after he admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on Tina Nash.
During a prolonged attack at her home in Hayle in April 2011 he strangled the mother of two into unconsciousness in her bed, gouged out her eyes and left her with a fractured jaw and a broken nose.
At the Court of Appeal in London, Jenkin, aged 33 and from Penzance, had appealed against his indefinite term but his case was thrown out by the Lord Chief Justice, Mr Justice Mitting, and Mr Justice Griffin.
Ms Nash, who has now moved to Penzance with her two sons, recently fronted a Channel Four documentary about domestic violence, investigating how a change in the law to enable men and women to find out about their partner's past might work.
