After Penryn beat Bude 27-12 in last Saturday's Tribute Western Counties West encounter at the Memorial Ground, the two teams are due to meet again tomorrow (2pm) in the quarter-finals of the Tribute Cornwall Cup at Bude's Bencoolen Meadow ground.
"It will be a different kettle of fish up there," said Penryn head coach Paul Trevaskis. "Bude will fancy their chances on their own ground, the pitch up there is smaller, and they will probably have a few players back.
"It's a cup game and anything can happen, we shall travel with confidence. We will be well prepared and we shall see where it takes us."
Wadebridge Camels will take a break from South West One West combat when they visit St Ausell for a Cornwall Cup quarter-final at Tregorrick Park (2.30pm).
It will be a repeat of last season's final at Penryn, where Wadebridge triumphed 20-17 in a very tight contest. It is likely to be just as close this weekend, as St Austell are riding high at the top of Western Counties West.
St Austell beat second-placed Bideford 17-6 in a top-of-the-table clash at Tregorrick Park last weekend. The victory made it ten wins from ten games for the Saints and stretched their lead at the top to 14 points.
St Ives, who are unbeaten Cornwall and Devon League action this term, will be in Cornwall Cup quarter-final action tomorrow (2pm) at Newquay Hornets.
Camborne's scheduled home quarter-final against Truro tomorrow has been called off, with Truro having conceded the tie as they are unable to field a suitable team.
Jack Tovey has dismissed rumours of divisions within the Bristol camp – and said the players want to offer an apology to their supporters this weekend in the form of a victory over Jersey.
Bristol were beaten 63-7 at Nottingham in the Championship last weekend, a result that prompted chairman Chris Booy to offer public backing to head coach Liam Middleton, while simultaneously demanding an improvement.
Speculation has been rife among supporters this week, with some assuming that Bristol's coaches do not enjoy the full support of the players. But Tovey spoke with an honesty and wisdom beyond his 21 years when asked some difficult questions about Bristol's current plight.
Tovey said: "A performance and result like the one we had at Nottingham puts everyone in a bit of doubt.
"But everybody can talk as much as they want – we know what's happening in the camp. Everyone is staying strong and everyone is behind the coaches."
