Falmouth Town 2, Cullompton Rangers 2
LES Gilbert and Robbie Stephens were denied their first league win at Falmouth Town as Ryan Leverton's injury time point rescued a point for Cullompton Rangers at Bickland Park on Saturday.
An own goal from Luke Wormsley (26) and a Glen Squires strike (33) had deservedly put Town in command against a very poor Cullompton side.
But Squires' afternoon would turn sour after the striker was sent off moments after Leverton's dramatic equaliser, for a second booking. It was harsh on Squires and completed a frustrating afternoon for Town's new management duo.
Wormsley slid the ball into his own net to give Falmouth the lead, and Squires' neat finish into the bottom corner was just reward for the hosts' first half efforts.
But when Marcus Pethick headed home Luke Osmond's cross after 62 minutes, Town defended nervously in the closing stages and with the game into stoppage time Leverton volleyed home superbly after more slack defending.
Squires was then sent off by referee Chris Stevens, though the foul didn't really warrant a second yellow card, to complete a disappointing afternoon for Town.
Falmouth: J Chapman, S Winnan, B Bryant, T Whipp, J Webb, S Anderton, D Richardson, L Wort, G Squires, A Westgarth (K Turner 77), S Retchford. Subs (not used): E Boon, J Greet.
Cullompton: J Wannell, J Letori, J Bedford, M Brookman, L Wormsley, P Dugard (J Towill 46), L Osmond (B Campbell 82), G Wills, R Leverton, S Kemp, M Pethick. Sub (not used): M Taylor.
