Redruth prop Darren Jacques praised his side's versatility after their 21-0 win over Dings Crusaders at the weekend.
The Reds recorded a much-needed National League Two South win following their heavy loss at Hartpury College the previous Saturday.
While many of their best performances this season have seen a greater emphasis on their backs' capabilities, their success over Dings saw them revert to a more forwards-dominated game in heavy conditions at the Recreation Ground.
Jacques believes it is important for his side to be able to match their style of play to the conditions and the opposition they face.
He said: "Dings played a very similar style to us, taking teams on with a very forward-orientated game. That suited me down to the ground, so it was really enjoyable.
"In the last few years, we have been quite forward-orientated, even in the dry weather. This year, we have got some backs who can play a bit more rugby but it is nice to see that when the wet comes in, we can revert back to type."
The change in tactics had nothing to do with their 47-15 defeat to Hartpury College, according to Jacques.
He said: "To be fair, we played some really nice rugby up at Hartpury but there were a few turning points in the game and a few mistakes after that. A side like that can then just get away from you and that is what happened that day."
Jacques will be 32 later this month but his influence on the team is as strong as ever. The front-row forward won the man-of-the-match award for his performance against Dings and is enjoying his game under new director of rugby Adrian Edwards.
He said: "I'm absolutely loving it. It is nice this year because there is no pressure on us. We can just go out and play some rugby. We are probably exceeding everyone's expectations at the moment. Nobody talked about us at the start of the season.
"We are a good side and a match for anybody. We will just keep trying to play as we are."
Edwards appreciates having players with Jacques' experience in his squad to help the younger players progress.
"You look through the team with Darren Jacques, Damien Cook, Craig Bond, Owen Hambly and Chris Fuca – we have got some very experienced players," said Edwards. "But we need the youngsters to keep the club going for the next three to five years as well.
"They are only going to learn off people like Jacquesy. The younger players can only really be good with people like him around. I think we have got a really good mix at the moment."
