A HAYLE club that has spent nearly 50 years moving from pillar to post has finally got a home of its own.
Members of Hayle Judo Kwai are celebrating the move to their new dojo, or training place, which means they now have the space to use full competition size mats.
Chairman Phil Burton said the premises at Rospeath Industrial Estate was the answer to the club's prayers.
"We have spent so long accepting others hospitality, never quite finding the most suitable venues and struggling to relocate when our hosts' needs had to change," he said.
The club, which has around 70 members, has leased part of Recycling West Country's unit, giving it enough room for an office, changing rooms and other areas for physical exercise.
To celebrate, the club is throwing an official opening party and barbecue this Saturday between 11am and 3pm, followed by the annual awards evening at 7pm.
Sensei Richard Deacon said the club had already gained some new members from Crowlas because of the move but new people were always welcome.
Training takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and there are groups for all ages and abilities.
Mr Deacon added: "It keeps you flexible, fit and a it is a discipline.
"I have had children that have come and been a bit wild but usually they calm down and it gives them confidence."
President Jeremy Joslin added: "It's a marvellous lift for the club, the always-volunteering parents and the young people. We have over seventy members from as young as seven and the self-discipline, self-esteem, self-respect and confidence they gain is obvious to all."
The Pirates rugby team will be at the opening and local Olympic torch bearer Sarah Blight will cut the ribbon. All are welcome.
