Police investigating a body pulled from the water at Penryn harbour this morning say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
In a statement released this lunchtime, officers have confirmed the body was that of a local woman aged in her 50s.
Her next of kin have been informed.
A statement issued by Devon & Cornwall Police states: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and police are now investigating on behalf of the Coroner."
The emergency services were called to the scene at 8.15 this morning after reports of a body seen in the water.
Although it was quickly recovered, and resuscitation attempted immediately, the woman was declared dead at Royal Cornwall Hospital a short while later.
