Two St Ives policemen will be honoured for their efforts to try and save the life of a woman who collapsed at a flat in the town.
Constables Scott Perkin and Kevin Silver raced to the flat in November 2010 following reports that a woman had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Despite showing no signs of life, the officers carried out CPR until an ambulance arrived with PC Silver continuing the resusication technique whilst paramedics used a defibrillator and administered life saving drugs.
"The casualty was transferred to Treliske by air ambulance where she remained in a critical condition until, unfortunately, passing away a few days later," said a spokesperson for the Force.
"However, the successful resuscitation meant that family could travel from across the country and abroad in order to say goodbye."
The pair will be presented with the Devon and Cornwall Police Commander Citation for taking action to save the life of another at an event in Bodmin on Friday.
