A Penryn apprentice has come away from the SkillELECTRIC competition, run by WorldSkills, with a silver medal.
Matthew Fletcher, 31, is an apprentice electrician at Addinalls Ltd got through to the national competition after winning the South West regional finals earlier this year.
He was up against nine other finalists and put to the test over three days, having to complete a number of challenges.
He said: "I really enjoyed the competition and the opportunity to meet other apprentices.
"I would like to keep involved with the competition either as a volunteer or by supporting other young apprentices in my business."
Mr Fletcher trains at Cornwall College.
