A 100-mile cycle ride in memory of a teenager from a Redruth village raised almost £8,000.
Keen rider Bill Gribble, 14, from Four Lanes, died from a rare cancer last year.
Daniel Martin, 15, Matt Stone, 15, Euan Dunbar and Bill's brother Jack, 17, decided to cycle from Plymouth to Land's End.
They rode a mixture of BMX and mountain bikes, making the ride even more of a challenge on machines designed for off-road riding more than long distance.
The four friends tackled huge hills, some in heavy rain, including the three-mile ascent on the Liskeard bypass and the notorious Shute Hill at Lostwithiel.
The only mechanical breakdown was a puncture encountered by Jack on the A390 just west of St Austell, which was quickly sorted by the support van, donated by Melroy Youlton of M Y Motors of Redruth.
The four lads kept up a good speed, and accompanied by Yvonne Minister on her motor scooter (the safety bike) they rolled into Four Lanes, where Bill grew up, for lunch.
They were met by a crowd of people and joined on the last leg of the journey by a cluster of supports cyclists, including Bill's sister Mary, 10.
The ride raised enough to present a cheque for £6,845 to the CLIC Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske.
The boys also handed over toys, DVDs, and computer games for use by the poorly children.The total amounted to almost £8000.
