It has just been announced that Falfish, one of the UK's leading seafood processors, is supporting the Excellence in Business Training Awards 2013.

Now in their sixth year, the awards hosted by Cornwall College Business, recognise commitment to business training in the South West.

Dave Linnell, CEO and principal of Cornwall College Group said: "We are delighted that the Awards are supported by Falfish. As an organisation they aspire to make improvements across every aspect of their own operations through investing in technology, sustainability, innovation and staff training."

Falfish are an independent Cornish family business at Redruth, founded in 1979, specialising in supplying UK and European retailers and leading seafood businesses with a range of more than 50 responsibly sourced, fresh and frozen fish and shellfish species. They transport throughout the UK and Europe, specialising in responsibly sourced scallops.
As nominations for the awards close, shortlisted companies will be announced at www.trainingawards.org and in the West Briton before Christmas.
The nine categories that companies entered are: outstanding commitment to training, individual achievement, excellence in environmental training, outstanding commitment to apprenticeships, apprentice of the year, commitment to graduate development, training programme of the year, outstanding commitment to training from a small business, and achievement of significant business impact.
The tenth category (the Winner of Winners Award) recognises the achievements of an exceptional local company or individual and the winner is chosen from those that win one of the first nine categories.  This very special winner will have demonstrated their potential over the past year with proven results, innovative expansion or improved effectiveness following investment in training.
Tamsyn Harris, from Cornwall College Business, said: "The response from the local business community to the awards this year has been excellent.  It's encouraging that there has been such enthusiasm, despite the challenging economic climate, and I don't envy the judges as the competition, as ever, is incredibly strong."
"The black tie dinner will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate some of the region's excellent businesses," said Mr Linnell.  "I look forward to hearing the names of those shortlisted and to meeting all the inspiring winners on the night.  I'd also like to thank our generous sponsors for their support."
Award sponsors include Falfish, Cornwall and Devon Media, parent company of the West Briton, Pirate FM, Cornwall Care, Unlocking Potential, TJ International, Cormac Solutions Ltd, Cornwall Development Company, Midas and Deloitte.
Winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on January 25 at the Atlantic Hotel Newquay. Individual seats for the awards ceremony in January can be purchased at £60 per ticket – for details, email enquiries@ccb.cornwall.ac.uk or call 0800 731 7594.
