Parts of Cornwall last night remained at risk from possible floods as rain continued to pour down. Environment Agency chiefs placed Lands End, Helston, Crowlas, St Ives, Hayle, Camborne and Perranporth on flood alert. River levels were slowly falling, but levels remain high in Loe Pool at Porthleven. Loe Pool, the largest natural freshwater lake in Cornwall, is separated from the sea by a shingle bank of Loe Bar, where pumps were deployed at the weekend. With the forecast for showers heavy overnight last night, agency chiefs said flood warnings could be issued today.
