Hundreds of spectators cheered loudly as a flotilla of pirate rafts took to the high seas at the weekend to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Around 30 craft of all shapes and sizes carrying competitors in suitable swashbuckling attire were launched at this year's Praa Sands Pirate Raft Race, near Helston, Cornwall.
Locals and tourists flocked to the event on Sunday to raise funds for the Helston-based ShelterBox international humanitarian aid charity. When all the totting-up was completed after last year's event more than £9,000 had been raised for ShelterBox.
As well as the raft race, spectators and competitors enjoyed live music, a licensed beach bar, stalls and entertainment for all the family. On Saturday night more money was raised at a pre-race party.
