A company which owns and operates a satellite from Cornwall's earth station at Goonhilly, has teamed up with a broadband provider to reach out to consumers living in digital "not spots".
London-based Hybeam Ltd, is targeting a Westcountry market for its satellite broadband, offering speeds of up to 10Mb.
The service is being delivered via HYLAS 1, a satellite launched in 2010 by Avanti Communications, which employs around 20 people at its earth station base at Goonhilly.
Avanti and Hybeam formed a partnership to deliver the service around six months ago and are particularly keen to attract consumers living in areas too remote to connect via the roll-out of fibre optic networks delivering faster broadband speeds.
Hybeam's Emmanuel Akinyosoye said:"People tired of waiting for the arrival of fibre can get high speed right now."
