A PERRANPORTH surfer has been crowned European champion.
Ben Skinner successfully defended his title to win the title of European Longboard Champion at Estoril in Portugal.
Success in Portugal came at the end of a series of events at the best surf spots around the continent.
Ben said: "It was a fiercely competitive tour and I'm proud that the UK team did so well. It's a brilliant result for the young guns. Bring on next year."

Adam Griffiths from Newquay finished second overall, proving the dominance of the UK longboarding team.
As well as being sponsored by REEF, O'Neill and 100%, Ben is sponsored by Skinner's Brewery, and is the inspiration behind the Skindog draught Cornish lager.
His father Steve runs the Truro brewery and taught Ben to surf at the age of 3.
In 2009, Ben won every domestic contest up for grabs in the UK.
He also won three European titles in the same year and was the first person ever to do so.
