A POOL man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Camborne father-of-two today.
Somes McFarland, 28, will serve a minimum of 13 years behind the bars before the parole board can consider when it will be safe to release him into the society.
He was found guilty of murdering 51-year-old former roofer, Peter Oates, following a week-long trial at Truro Crown Court.
Both men lived at the Henley House hostel in Fore Street in Pool when the violence took place on March 25.
The court heard that Mr Oates, an alcoholic, suffered 19 fractures of the ribs and injuries to his head and neck when McFarland battered him in his room using his hands and feet.
