There must be something in the sea air at Sennen.

While most families are content with keeping warm and cosy at home on Christmas Day, around 400 took to Sennen Cove for the traditional December 25 swim.

Dressed more for a summer's day lounging on a beach in the Mediterranean rather than a dip during the height of winter, the swimmers packed out the cove on Christmas morning.

Rob Muir, who captured the pictures on camera, said the swim was great fun and that thankfully the sun was shining.

His son Dave, who took part, said: "The sun shone for the 20 minutes we were there.

"It was obviously cold getting in the water but as we were walking out we were just chatting like it was a summer's day.

"Everyone soon realised how cold they were though, it soon hit home it was December 25.

"It's such an amazing thing to do on Christmas Day. It was really good to see  all the people coming home, all your friends."

Christmas Day swims also took place in Exmouth in the South West, as well as the famous swim in the Serpentine lake in Hyde Park.
