A SIX-MONTH driving ban was imposed on a Trethowel man last week after he drove without insurance twice within a month.

Christopher Thomas, 30, lost his licence during a hearing at Bodmin Magistrates' Court last Thursday.

Thomas, who gave an address at a rented caravan at Trethowel Farm, had told Deputy District Judge Purcell that he was likely to lose his job as a self-employed agricultural contractor if he was disqualified, and that the resulting loss of income would also mean that he would lose his accommodation.

Mr Purcell told him that he had listened to his argument but this did not amount to "exceptional hardship".

Thomas had pleaded guilty by post to using a car on the B3274 at Trethowel without insurance on October 14 and again at Watersedge Close, St Austell, on October 29.

He was fined £350 with a £20 victim surcharge, and his licence was endorsed with 12 penalty points, triggering the ban.
