FUN and frolics are promised this weekend when Wadebridge Chamber of Commerce hosts its inaugural Camel River Festival.
The activities will start tomorrow, Saturday, lunchtime and will run until Sunday evening on the Jubilee Field, next to the Co-op car park.
Tomorrow the river will host stand-up paddleboard lessons, canoe racing from 5pm and at 6pm a raft race.
A tug-of-war competition will be held on Sunday lunchtime at noon.
Throughout the event there are many children's activities and a children's activity tent to keep them entertained.
The event is co-sponsored by Sharp's Brewery who have live music and a beer and wine festival in a marquee on the fields. Music will continue throughout the day with Saturday night entertainment provided by Hope Road, a local band known for its lively funky sound.
Chamber chairman, Dominic Walford, said: "This is our first event where we want to attract locals and visitors into the town to celebrate the lovely river that is such a feature of the town. This is a great family event and something we want to build on every year to make it better and better.
"The music is all put on for free with small charges for the children's activities. Swampy from Crealy will make an appearance too. A huge thank you to Sharp's Brewery and the Co-operative Membership Community Fund who have jointly sponsored the event. "All we need now is good weather and people to turn up.
