A ST AUSTELL woman has proved that age is no barrier after scooping a 'beach babe' award – at the age of 46.
Carol Dunster, from Roslyn Close in St Austell, said she was shocked to have been chosen for Pirate FM's 2012 Beach Babe Award in November.
"I was amazed when I had the phone call saying I'd won out of all the young girls there must have been," she said.
"I think it was amazing the judges picked a mature lady to win.
"Just because we're mature, if we look after ourselves we can still look great and feel sexy."
The driving instructor said despite having two children, now 23 and 21, she didn't have one stretch mark and had tips she would like to share with others for their new year's resolutions.
"From the age of 19 I've taken cod liver oil, which has made my skin soft to touch, and when I was pregnant I bathed in Fenjal oil every day," she said. "I've never smoked in my life and have run seven marathons, so this has helped me keep fit and look great at my age."
She added that the benefit of having a good night's sleep and using night cream and eye cream before going to bed was not a myth.
Ms Dunster said she was now looking into joining a modelling agency for mature women.
"I was so pleased with the award," she said. "If this can happen to me it can happen to anyone. If you believe in something you just have to go for it."
