Less than a year since it's opened its doors, The Ruin Beach Café on Tresco island in the Isles of Scilly has made it into Conde Nast Traveller's 2013 Gold list.
Every year the elite travel magazine unveils its pick of the world's all-time favourite hotels, restaurants, bars and beach clubs; and this year Tresco's newest eatery features in the magazine's hot list.
Alongside picks from Barbados and South of France, The Ruin is the only British restaurant to hit the spot in the beach bars and clubs section in the round up in the latest edition.
Described by Conde Nast as being a 'charming place with a wholesome eco-vibe', the vibrant shoreline beach café offers one of the country's finest sea views and is located above a gently curving bay by the picturesque ruins of an old smuggler's cottage; from which it takes its name.
Naturally, with a restaurant so close to the sea, fresh seafood features prominently on the Ruin's menu. It's also home to a wood fired oven and boasts an array of pizzas, steaks and breads that are baked to perfection in the traditional oven.
Wayne Shaw, hospitality and reservations manager for the Tresco Estate, said: "To make the shortlist of Conde Nast's favourite bar and beach clubs is a huge honour. It's great that we've been able to quickly establish the eatery alongside some very prestigious restaurants from across the world."
Wayne added: "The freshest ingredients combined with a first-class location and exceptional staff is the recipe for success if the Gold list selection is anything to go by."
The opening of the Ruin Beach Café coincided with the unveiling of the Sea Garden Cottages and the culmination of a two-year, £10 million project on the island in May last year.
