A group of students at Fowey Community College are marking Holocaust Memorial Day with their own memorial models.
The Year 9 History students made the models for display around the school to mark the occasion on January 27, the date of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II.
History teacher, Steve Bayes, said: "The purpose of studying the Holocaust in this way is that making a model really engages the students, and so they will remember this story.
"They're of superb quality and forty memorials will be on display around the school on Friday."
Holocaust Memorial Day provides an opportunity for everyone to learn lessons from the Holocaust, Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides and apply them to the present day to create a better future.
Student, Evan, 14, added: "We had about six weeks and the holiday to work on our models. We learnt about the Holocaust, how it happened and what effect it had on people.
"I enjoyed doing the project because it was much more creative than writing an essay."
John Perry, Fowey Community College headteacher said he believes it is really important that young people have a deep understanding of our collective history and how that still affects the world we live in today.
