Cornwall Councillor George Trubody has resigned from his post.
Mr Trubody, Councillor for Rame, will be stepping down at 5pm today, the council has confirmed.
A representative from Cornwall Council said Mr Trubody is leaving to pursue a personal career opportunity, which will mean he is unable to fulfil his responsibilities as a council member.
She added: "Councillor Trubody has notified the parish councils within his electoral division of his decision and Councillor Pearn will cover his constituency responsibilities pending the unitary elections on 2 May."
Due to the short time period before the elections, there will be no by-election for the Rame electoral division.
