Truro City 3 Hayes & Yeading Utd 1
CITY finally gave their long suffering supporters something to smile about as they ended a run of seven successive home defeats.
Two goals by Andy Watkins and one from Les Afful gave City their first Blue Square double of the season and only their seventh win in all.
After criticising his players' attitude in Tuesday's home defeat against Weston-super-Mare, City boss Lee Hodges had no complaints as his team turned in a totally committed performance to earn a well deserved victory against the play-off chasing visitors.
He said: " Special praise to everybody. That was for the fans today. We have lost seven in a row at home but they come here week, in week out, to cheer us on. "
Hodges made three changes from the team that started in midweek, with Barry Hayles, Marcus Martin and Ben Williams in for Matt Wright, Martin Watts and Calron Hall.
And Truro were up for the fight from the start, biting into tackles and taking the game to the Surrey visitors.
But it was not until seven minutes before half time that they took the lead when Barry Hayles fed Andy Watkins on the left and his low cross was expertly finished by Les Afful for only his second goal of the season.
And City doubled their advantage 11 minutes into the second period when a long free-kick from Hodges was flicked on by Ben Gerring for Watkins to finish well past Hayes keeper Louis Wells.
Hayes soon hit back when a cross from the left by Kudus Oyenuga was unluckily turned into his own net by City central defender Paul Kendall, under pressure from substitute Julian Owusu.
This set up a nervous finale and it was not until the final minute that City made the game safe with Watkins running to Martin's lon ball and calmly lobbing Wells for his tenth goal of the season to send the home fans into raptures.
