Truro's parks, gardens and flower displays have been branded the best in the South West by judges.
The city took home the Portman Cup and the Sponsor's Award for The Most Meritorious Entry at the South West in Bloom ceremony in Western Super Mare yesterday.
Truro City Council's parks manager Richard Budge said winning the accolades was an "absolute shock".
"As a parks department we're only 50 per cent of it - it's not just what we do from a flower point of view, it's about the community involvement.
"The community garden at Truro Library is one example of taking over an area and turning it into something beautiful.
"Winning this accolade is fantastic and will bring people down to visit the city."
