Last week, new marine conservation charity Sea—Changers gave its first small grant to the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow, Cornwall. The donation of £500 was formally handed over when Sea-Changers visited the Hatchery on 13th September 2012. The money will be used to feed the baby lobsters that the Hatchery nurtures for release back into the wild.

Following the visit to the Hatchery, Sea-Changers' patron Maya Plass and its two Co-Founders Rachel Lopata and Helen Webb were given the opportunity to scuba dive and release some of the young lobsters into the sea. This was made possible due to the support of Newquay-based dive operator, Atlantic Diving.

Chris and Annabelle Lowe of Atlantic Diving have been supporting Sea-Changers for some time, raising the profile of the marine conservation charity's work with the divers they serve. They generously supported the lobster release, offering their boat and their knowledge of the best local dive sites for the release of the lobsters.

The Sea-Changers team were joined by three marine wildlife educators for the lobster release dive and a total of around 90 baby lobsters were set free at a dive site near Newquay.

Helen Webb, Co-Founder of Sea-Changers said – "It was a fantastic dive and so great to have a direct role in the Lobster Hatchery's important work. The team at Atlantic Diving made the experience both very enjoyable and entirely safe – a big thanks to Annabelle and Chris."
