Devon and Cornwall Police has a new man at the helm in west Cornwall.
Superintendent Jim Pearce takes on the role of commander of an area which includes the western half of the county, from Truro out to the Isles of Scilly.
Supt Pearce originally joined Gloucestershire Constabulary before transferring to Devon and Cornwall 12 years ago and has worked principally in Cornwall and Force headquarters for the majority of the period.
Having worked across all functions within policing, he most recently held the position of chief inspector in response and operations which had a Forcewide responsibility.
"I am incredibly proud to have been given the chance to lead the police force in the county where I grew up and have returned to live," he said.
"We have an incredibly dedicated group of officers and staff working to make Cornwall a safe and happy place to live, work and socialise.
"There is a lot of innovative policing happening within our communities and, historically, public sector organisations, especially in the west of the county have worked well together for the people we serve.
"I look forward to that continuing."
