HRH The Duke of Kent has pulled out of a scheduled tour of St Agnes Museum and RNLI station because of ill health. Preparations were under way for his arrival on Monday when he was due meet RNLI lifeguards and staff at Trevaunance Cove in his role as president of the charity. The Duke, 77, was then due to tour the museum on Penwinnick Rd, meeting local dignitaries and children from St Agnes School.
Liz Thompson from the museum told the West Briton: "I am very sorry to tell you that we have just heard from the office of the Lord Lieutenant that HRH The Duke of Kent was taken ill and admitted to hospital at the weekend. All his engagements for the next three weeks have been cancelled, so he will sadly not be able to visit St Agnes Museum next Monday." She said it is not known whether his visit will be rescheduled for a later date.
