A body has been discovered following a fire in a shed close to a boating lake in Cornwall.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the fire in Coronation Park, Helston, at about 10.40pm on Friday.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue service said the body of the as-yet-unnamed man was discovered in the remains of the building after the fire crews had tackled the flames and made sure the fire was out.
Parts of the area around the boating lake were initially cordoned off as emergency services launched an investigation into the incident and tried to establish how the fire was started.
Tez Rees, a rough sleeper who had been in a shed nearby, told the BBC that he attempted to rescue the victim.
He said: "The fire brigade pulled me out because I was determined to get him out. The poor fellow never had a chance."
Devon and Cornwall Police and the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service are continuing to carry out a joint investigation into the incident.
The cause of the fire, which crews managed to put out quickly, was not deemed suspicious.
No further information was available last night about the incident.
