Victoria Park in Redruth was given a through spring clean by a group of volunteers.
About 45 people rolled up their sleeves and weeded and edged flower beds, sanded and painted benches, cut back undergrowth and carried out a general tidy up, removing six lorry loads of rubbish.
Among those taking part were Redruth School, Cormac Solutions, The Conservation Volunteers (correct), RNP/Duchy College's Green Fingers project, Redruth Neighbourhood Police Team, Cornwall and town councillors and the Friends of Victoria Park.
Jackie Mace, secretary of the Friends of Victoria Park, said: "It was a very successful day. The weather held up and one of the 'friends' baked homemade cakes and cup-cakes for the volunteers.
"Events like this are extremely valuable. They give us the chance to work with the school and the local community.
"We are going to do another one in the summer."
The Friends have enough money through external funding for new posts and net for the tennis court and almost enough for a free-standing basket ball hoop.
Cormac Solutions are keen to work in partnership with other local interest groups.
The Friends have recently taken Trefusis Park under their wing and hope to get funding for various improvements.
