THERE were tunes of glory for St Keverne senior, youth and junior bands at this year's Cornwall Brass Band Association (CBBA) Championships.

The musicians brought home an armful of trophies to the village.

The senior band came top in their section, were section champions and won second place overall for the championships.

The youth band became CBBA youth champions for the third year in a row and the junior band came second in their class.

Individual members were singled out for their talent with Kelvin Retallack winning the best cornet player and the best instrumentalist of the championships titles.

Paul Villers was named the best euphonium player of the day.

Conductor and musical director of St Keverne Band, Gareth Churcher, was thrilled with the performances, the results and the good conduct of all members of the three bands.

Plans are now afoot by the band for competing at another national competition after this year's success for the youth band at Manchester in the national youth brass band association finals.

All the bands have already started practising.
