POLICE have renewed their appeal for information following a "cowardly" attack on a nightclubgoer who suffered a broken jaw.
Nicholas Tyrrell, 21, from Redruth, was punched several times in the face while celebrating his cousin's stag night in L2 in Truro.
The former student suffered a broken lower jaw and was unable to eat properly for several weeks.
He was fitted with a temporary plastic retainer to protect his teeth and will need several trips to the dentist to reshape front teeth that were also knocked out of position.
The illustrations graduate, from University College Falmouth, is hoping his account of the July 15 incident will lead to potential witnesses from the town coming forward.
The attack, he said, came as a surprise as he had no previous contact with the man.
"I think I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I had never seen the man before, it was unprovoked."
Detective Constable Mark Jenkin, of Truro police, said Mr Tyrrell was a defenceless victim, adding: "Having viewed the CCTV this is, in my opinion, a particularly cowardly attack. The suspect is seen to take a full swing and then punch the unsuspecting victim to the face.
"He then appears to support the back of the victim's head while punching the victim a second time. There does not appear to be any motive for this assault. The victim sustained a broken jaw and was lucky not to have suffered more serious injuries."
Anyone who recognises the man in the image, wearing a white shirt with a blue, checked pattern is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting reference GT/12/1406.
