MOTORISTS are urged to take advantage of free parking in Camborne this month.

Traders said the trial, which is now in its second month, has brought a small increase of shoppers into the town.

The two-hour pilot scheme was launched by Camborne Business Improvement District (BID) at privately owned Trevithick Road car park behind Argos last month.

The organisers now say customers need to make the most of it to help guarantee its success in the long term.

Glynis Charlesworth, owner of Cross Street News and chairman of Camborne Chamber of Commerce, said: "When talking to business owners in the last few days, it is clear that the free parking has already brought a small increase of shoppers into the town.

"I for one have seen an increase in trade during the past few weeks."

Mel Martin, BID manager, added: "If free parking is something you would like to see in Camborne longer term, then please make use of the offer in October, display your ticket and show the traders, who are subsidising this offer, that free car parking is important to customers and Camborne."

Any comments on the free car park trial can be e-mailed to mel@cambornecando.co.uk
