A 67-year-old homeless man from Truro is surpassing expectations on a 1,100 mile charity walk.
Bryan Pesce is raising funds for Children's Hospice South West and has already had £1,250 pledged online.
He used his pensioner's bus pass to get to John O'Groats and is now walking back to Cornwall, pitching a tent nightly.
Mr Pesce e-mailed the West Briton to say he had started out from John O'Groats on Good Friday and arrived in Tain in Scotland today.
He said: "There were a couple of light rain showers during last night, first rain since I arrived in Thurso.
"I left Dornoch this morning, and just arrived in Tain about 2 hours ago.
"So everything is going well, lots of support from people in the street and shops."
Mr Pesce became homeless after he injured his leg in 2011, lost his job in a Torbay restaurant and had to leave rented accommodation.
But the 67-year-old is determined to find some good out of a difficult situation.
People making donations on Mr Pesce's Virgin Money Giving site have been impressed by his tenacity.
Hayley Simons donated £20 and said: "This is the most selfless act of kindness I have read about for some time.
"I wish you all the best Bryan and hope that you are blessed with a trouble free journey."
One anonymous donor has pledged £1,000.
Mr Pesce said: "I was astounded when I looked at the page yesterday and saw that total."
