A Westcountry brass band has hit a high note by winning a place at a national final.
Bodmin Brass Band musicians gained second place in its section at the West of England Area Championships at Torquay against 14 other bands.
The band narrowly missed out on first place to Wotton-under-Edge and District Band.
The two will now go forward to represent the region in the third section finals of the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham.
And combined with good, consistent results over the past two years, the band has been promoted to the second section from January 2014.
Musical director Garry Lannie said: "The band has done remarkably well over the past two years, considering the huge setback when we lost our bandroom after an arson attack.
"We came off stage at Torquay knowing we played well; achieving a place at the national finals is testament to how much effort people have put in."
Bodmin will be joined in the national finals by Camborne Junior Band (fourth section), Pendennis Brass (second section) and Lanner (first section).
