A group of dieters from Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth have lost more than 200kg between them, and raised money for Children's Hospice South West in the process.
Pendennis introduced a diet club earlier this year, organized by the in-house occupational health nurse, Louise Taylor.
She said: "The project started with a battle between two guys who came to be weighed and asked if they could have an independent person keeping an eye on them to monitor who lost the most weight.
"This developed into opening it out to anyone in the yard. I was very surprised by the uptake and delighted with the outcome.
"Yacht building is a very physical work environment, and as such Pendennis is keen to support our employees in being as fit as they can be for the job.
"As a result of this initiative we now have a leaner, fitter workforce."
The company has an on-site gym and organizes weekly pilates classes. The diet club was added this year as part of the shipyard's 'Healthy @ Work' strategy.
Since January, 38 employees have been following a safe, healthy eating and exercise regime with weekly weigh-ins to monitor their progress.
The group collectively recorded a total weight loss of more than 200.6kg  (31.5 stone) with a total reduction of 1.5m waist circumference at their final weigh-in last Thursday.
Pendennis has provided a donation for every kilo shed to the company's charity of the year, Children's Hospice South West.
